Meet the Cast of ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’

Rehearsals are well underway for the presentation of the next WRAPS Community Theater play ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’. Under the masterful directorship of Mavourneen Varcoe-Ryan the actors are working through the “blocking”* process as they continue to memorize their lines and choreograph their movements on stage.

Below is the final roster of performers who will be bringing this classic, side-splitting comedy to life. Many of these actors will be very familiar to those who have been delighted by WRAPS theatrical events of the past , including John Kidder (Johnathan Brewster), Jim McLean (Dr. Einstein) and Barbara Roden (Abby Brewster).

Others – such as Jim Mertel (Teddy Brewster) and Marina Papais (Martha Brewster) were first introduced to local theater goers in their roles as part of the chorus of last years phenomenal hit ‘My Fair Lady’, and they are set to impress us all with their acting prowess and comedic timing as much as they did with their singing last year.

We also welcome to the local theater scene a couple of new faces.  Mark Armstrong will be portraying the gruff veteran police officer Lieutenant Rooney  and Daniel Nichols will play Moritimer Brewster – the plays lead male character.

‘Arsenic and Old Lace” will be presented on multiple occasions on the second and third weekends of November, 2016, with at least one showing as an afternoon matinee.  All shows will be held at the gymnasuim of the HUB in Ashcroft.

*In contemporary theater, the director usually determines blocking during rehearsal, telling actors where they should move for the proper dramatic effect, ensure sight lines for the audience and work with the lighting design of the scene.
