Yep – it’s been a hell of a spring and summer around here. With floods and fire, smoke and ash; the devastating loss of property and persons being uprooted from their homes, local businesses and services struggling to stay afloat – with many closing (R.I.P. Semlin Valley Golf Course) or on life support. And perhaps foremost of all in our hearts is the tragic loss of a wonderful citizen and friend to all, Cache Creek Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy.
Well we at WRAPS say ENOUGH ALREADY!
WRAPS events have also been impacted by the local wildfires, having had to cancel 2 of the Music & Magic events in July and August due to the imminent threats to safety, road closures and thick pall of smoke in the air. But things are clearing up and (hopefully!) the worst is behind us – and we are ready to party and at least for a few hours put the past behind us!
Therefore WRAPS has a very special and “groovy” treat in store for the final Music & Magic in the Park event of the season. On August 23 come on down to the Ashcroft Heritage Place Park to dance under the stars to the classic retro-rock awesomeness of Paisley Groove! This Kamloops based band has been here in Ashcroft 2 other times over the years and they are always a huge hit! With their exciting repertoire of the some of the greatest rock’n’roll hits of the 60’s, 70’s and beyond delivered a wonderfully infectious latin vibe you will be toe-tapping and stomping up a storm (hopefully rain with no lightning!) throughout the evening!
Also on the bill will be local music sensation “Jenny & the Gents”! Jennifer Ferguson’s and the boys debut performance at last weekend’s fantastic Desert Daze Music
Festival in Spence’s Bridge created a huge buzz and kicked the festival into high gear, and they are set to do the same from the gazebo at the Heritage Place Park!
And for the youngsters and the young at heart WRAPS presents everybodies favorite Uncle Chris the Clown. He will have us all laughing and clapping and oohing and awing with his hilarious brand of fun and craziness.
Plus there will be a 50/50 draw and the Sunflower Truck will be on hand serving up its famous menu of exotic and delicious pizzas!
So bring your friends and family, a blanket and/or lawn chair and your favourite dancing shoes and be prepared to spend a few hours putting the wildfires and floods behind us and close out this nefarious Summer of ’17 with an evening of music and dance, laughter and merriment and song.
We all need and deserve this!
