The year’s summer line up for Ashcroft’s ‘Music In The Park’ held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at the Gazebo in Heritage Place Park will be announced in the next Creative Current article in two weeks. Look for posters around town and take home one of the small handouts that will be available at local retailers. Also check out www.windingriversarts.ca for info on the upcoming artists and their music.
Hats off to the over 50 folks who put together the very successful play, Swamp Pirate Zombies, held a few weeks ago in Ashcroft. That was quite the production! The WRAP Society committee members want to thank the many volunteers, courageous actors and crew but most of all to our community for such great support and turnout.
They hope you enjoyed it as much as they did in seeing it through. From the tentative auditions many months ago to four amazing almost sold out performances and to top it all off - a cast party celebrated with a pirate piñata and zombie ice cream cake. Well done everyone!

Winding Rivers Arts and Performance Society, in collaboration with local Ashcroft artist Pauline Ogilvie, are joining together to host a two day ‘Plein Air - Paint Out’ Event in the surrounding Ashcroft area from May 22-23.
Artists are invited to attend to paint works inspired by our many majestic Ashcroft landscapes.
The artists wrap up their works on the second day, and those works will be on display at WRAP Society’s first summer ‘Ashcroft Music In the Park’ evening event at Heritage Place Park on Railway Ave. where everyone gets to vote for their favourite. Paintings will be available for sale as well as a meet and greet the artists. After the event, look for artists paintings displayed at The Sidewalk Gallery in Ashcroft on Railway Avenue.
During the coming months, a variety of musicians will tune up at the under the Gazebo, including celtic rockers, boogie blues crooners, local folkies and some funky beats to keep you cool. We will also feature some local dance & music groups like the Desert Moon Tribal Bellydance Troupe and the Benner-Tapia Family Quartet to name just a few.
Our first month of performances continues on May 23rd with Country/Folk act Willy Blizzard. The trio performs rootsy originals featuring superb vocal harmonies, upright bass, banjo, acoustic and electric guitars.

On Wednesday July 11th listen to the Celtic melodies of Littlehouse. They are an acoustic duo based in southwestern Nova Scotia, specializing in original instrumental compositions with a Celtic flavour. Charlie Wilson plays Irish flute and whistles, and Jude Pelley plays guitars, mandolin, and Appalachian dulcimer. Their music is atmospheric; rich and complex, drawing on both traditional and contemporary influences.
